Because I’m in South Africa, I only have access to the free Android apps and not to the paid ones. While this is a slight drawback, there are in actual fact plenty of free apps in the Android market that I have found invaluable. Here is a simple list of the apps that I have found the most useful.
Why task killers are bad for your Android phone
I’ve been an Android user for a little over 6 months now – I started with an HTC Desire and more recently I upgraded to an HTC Desire HD thanks to the awesome people in management in my office. Aside from the HD feeling like I’m carrying an LCD TV around in my pocket, I’m thoroughly pleased with the upgrade. Anyway – that’s all besides the point. What I’ve gathered you all here to talk about is the issue of task killers. If you don’t know what that is then you don’t exactly need to carry on reading this as it doesn’t really apply to you. Task killers are apps that you can use to manage your running processes and apps on your Android phone – you can use them to stop any process you like thereby saving memory, reducing CPU usage and ultimately prolonging your battery life. At least, that’s the theory…
